The Open Junior Synchronized Team and four GFSC individual skaters, Corinne O’Neil, Suzanne Herrmann, Christine Frawley, and Trevor Burrall, competed at the Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid on February 23rd and 24th. Our GFSC group brought home one Gold and two Silver medals.
Corinne O’Neil won the Gold medal in the “Senior Ladies” event.
The Open Junior Synchronized Team won the Silver medal in the “Open Junior Teams” event.
Trevor Burrall won the Silver medal in the “Intermediate Men” event.
Suzanne Herrmann competed in the “Open Novice Ladies” event.
Christine Frawley competed in the “Novice Ladies C” event.
Congratulations of all of the GFSC skaters who participated in the games.
On a related note, three of GFSC’s officials, Richie Van Vliet, Wick Smith, and Lynn Hayes, served as Chief Referee, Chief Accountant, and Assistant Accountant respectively for the figure skating event which, as usual, was the largest event of the games.
